Indigo Saint is the moniker for '5x Zim Hip Hop Award Winner', "Mzwakhiwe Ngwenya". His musical journey started in 2010 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. In 2011, he moved to Pretoria to study at the University of Pretoria and got influenced by the Pretoria Hip Hop scene, constantly being a large part of ciphers that would in turn nurture and influence his Hip Hop style. He has consistently released a project every year since then (see Projects). In 2016, he was listed second in MTv Base's Top 10 Hottest MC list and he followed that up with a double EP titled "The Blunt EPs" which were inspired by the tragic loss of his friend in 2015 as a result of suicide. The project has since been used to start and continue conversations around Mental Health issues in and around Zimbabwe. In 2017, following the success of The Blunt EPs, he was presented a Zim Hip Hop Award for the Best Underground category. Indigo Saint has since used his influence to bring up the Underground scene in Bulawayo, through Cottage #47, a hub which focuses on the development of artists through providing them opportunities to record in their studios, and perform at the Hub's events (Cottage Fortnights & Cottage Fest). He is an avid advocate for Mental Health Awareness and is the founder and developer of "Xoxa", Zimbabwe's first free Online Counseling platform, a platform created and funded initially through the sale of his music and "Asila Mali Apparel".
