Freedom Is Underrated

Biography

Ask D.H. a question about himself, and his answer will only lead to 10 more questions. Like his music, this Indianapolis native is complex and layered. Intellectual, resourceful and creative, he displays a level of diversity that borderlines improbability. Growing up, the sounds of jazz and R&B, as well as learning the clarinet, served as his musical cornerstone. It was when his older cousins introduced him to rap that he switched gears, recording his first song at the age of 12. He continued to sharpen his edge by constantly writing and participating in freestyle sessions throughout high school. Upon graduating, he enrolled at The Ohio State University and later decided to satisfy his intense need for a disparate set of challenges by enrolling in the Navy. His trek around the globe and living in California, Florida, and Georgia provided context for the most simple of human ideals; we all want the same things, regardless of race, religion, and creed. Realizing "the same things" means pursuing our dreams, D.H.'s hiatus from music was over. The term "Renaissance Man" was created to describe individuals that not only redefine knowledge and wisdom, but also display a skill set so diverse that it defies logic, and D.H. is the type of man that only breaks the mold because he never fits. Unwilling to view himself through the lens of judgment, D.H. lives his life on his own terms. "Freedom Is Underrated" isn't simply the title for his debut album. It's his unshackled mentality.
