All the Cruelty and All the Kindness

Biography

Establishing himself with his debut EP “All the Cruelty and All the Kindness” Tashomi Balfour is one of the UK’s finest saxophonists.
Aligned with the beginnings of jazz musician greats such as Louis Armstrong, Tashomi’s musical expression has its foundation in the Church. Tashomi’s innate musical talent has naturally led him to a divine exploration of the creative freedom celebrated universally in the way jazz allows us all to let go. To listen to Tashomi’s sound is to be given a sacred opportunity to illuminate, liberate, and awaken inside.
Tashomi was born and raised in South London. He is dedicated to his community, rooted in his Caribbean history and has an unshakeable fervour for his African descent.
Since 2013 Tashomi has been a mainstay at Piano Bar Soho, where he met his EP co-creative, Nathan Britton
Of Tashomi and his first EP it has been said:
“Like [Bill] Withers’s, Balfour’s music transcends common-place reality and gets to the heart and soul of the human condition” - Jeremy Stockwell
Into his music Tashomi brings his life experiences, his worship-filled beginnings, his cultural identity and his love of being free. With his raw and cultured playing style, Tashomi is a multi-genre musician paying homage to authentic Contemporary Jazz through Fusion, Neo-Soul, African Jazz and experimental.
The release of “All the Cruelty and All the Kindness” in 2020 sparks the official landing of Tashomi Balfour on the UK music scene.
