Flip Kontraband (born Akeim Martin) is a prolific Ocho Rios-based singer/sing jay whose music seamlessly blends dancehall with an Auto-Tune-laced R&B sound. His tense, dramatic songs frequently reflect on relationships, heartbreak, and other personal issues, as well as current events and the struggles of street life. Debuting in 2011 with 1 Movement Music, he issued over a dozen efforts that decade, including 2018 “Don’t Stop” and 2019 “ Load up Now. Born in St. Ann’s bay, Martin moved around, at the age of twelve he started recording music on his laptop with long time friend (JemappelleChow) and passing it around on his PSP . He started singing at a young age, influenced by the greats and his friends . After graduating high school, he became a successful Young artiste getting plays on radio station Irie fm 107.9 FM. A self-taught producer, he began recording songs using Pro Tools.He collaborated with numerous artists including Slim Knight , Cuzn Rhymes , JemappelleChow, NC Daze. He is currently on the come up and has a lot of music on the horizon. He is signed to Ochi Gxng Ent.
