After completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education, she continued her studies at Northwestern University where she completed her Master of Music degree in Voice and Pedagogy. Lana has coached and written music for many of finest soloists and recording artists. Her musical influences including the Soul Children of Chicago, Ricky Dillard and New G, Edwin Hawkins’ Music and Arts Seminar Choir. She currently serves as Assistant Director of Music for St. James AME Church of Chicago. This year under the production talent of Michael Manson for Manson Music Production, she has released her groundbreaking sophomore recording “Glory – A Good Friday Cantata” It is unlike any other song collection of our time. In this nine -song collection, she enlarges the musical canvas typified as ‘gospel’ music by including several fully scored pieces for strings, masterfully written choral selection and interposed with soulful melodies. The project further stretches the boundaries of traditional collective works with the inclusion of a neo-soul piece performed by Meghan McNeal and an amazing dramatic tenor selection performed by vocal virtuoso, Rodrick Dixon (formerly of the Three Mo Tenors). In the “Glory” recording, Lana steps from behind the veil of silence to perform a signature piece, “My Son”- an aria written for solo voice and cello.
