Biography

Solomon C. Bass V was born in Milwaukee, WI to a household brimming with the longing sounds of jazz and blues emanating from his mother’s record player. This is where his love of music began. Solomon’s musical talents were fostered in the resounding halls of Milwaukee’s schools and churches, where he learned to adeptly play the harmonica and drums. His childhood experiences in theater helped him develop a natural affinity for singing and performing. Between 2003 and 2005, Solomon faced the deaths of his beloved Uncle Bernard and Grandmother Ruthie, who both lost their lives to cancer. As he mourned their passing, he also contemplated various pieces of advice and wisdom they had bestowed on him through the years. He found himself driven to develop his own unique style, a creative voice all his own. He turned to the art of musical storytelling for emotional expression, an art that allowed him to connect with others in a very visceral, deep way. In 2005, Solomon became involved with the local groups High Profile Individual (HPI) and Wallet Chain Gang (WCG) which taught him the art of recording and mixing. Aside from sharpening his technical skills, he began to network with a group of like-minded artists. From this platform, he launched his rapping/singing career. And thus, Solomon C. Bass V became The Solo King.
