Drue Davis is a highly accomplished producer and songwriter who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. As a child, he was fascinated by music from the crackling vinyl grooves of Motown to the emerging raw sounds of Hip Hop His artist journey began as MC and producer for the Hip Hop group, Red Clay. His engaging lyrical style and beats, which he still refers to as “Rugged Soul”, landed them a feature in The Source magazine's, Unsigned Hype column. After years of focusing on Hip Hop, he began writing and producing for television shows and commercials. Within months, his music landed on several highly rated cable and broadcast shows. Using his MPC and keyboard, he began to explore music that touched on more personal topics and social issues. Drue's first project, Magic Man and the Beat Machine, encompasses the sounds from the soulfulness of R&B, the pulsating drive of rock, and the raw boom bap of Hip Hop. He also continues to tour as emcee and singer for the Internet sensation, Postmodern Jukebox. This past year, he received a Grammy certificate for his vocal and rap writing contributions to the Children’s Album of the Year, Home. His hard work and talents have led to recent performances in legendary venues such as BAM and The Apollo. Backed by a band during live performances, he is sure to touch souls in his own unique, soulful way.
