Lil Dev is a Malaysian rapper, composer, songwriter, video editor, and producer. He started his career as a rapper/artist at the age of 15 and was born in the year 2003. He posted his first song to social media called Balasan on his Youtube channel. Lil Dev's real name is Theodoric Tommy and was born in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia. Before he released Balasan on Youtube, he used to write lyrics and freestyle on Youtube's beat in his spare time. Lil Dev's style of rap is influenced by MF DOOM, 2Pac, Eminem, The Notorious B.I.G., Das EFX, Nas and many other old schools artists. By the new school though, he's inspired by Juice WRLD, XXXTENTACION, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Headie One, Stormzy, Future, King Von, Polo G, Lil Durk, Lil Baby and Offset. Now he's working under M2 Music Records as a rapper, sound engineer, and producer. He's also the founder of E.M M9V8MENT(EastSide.Miri 98K MOVEMENT) which consists of four rappers(including himself) and one producer from Miri. Despite signing a contract with M2 Music Records, he's still an independent artist so he has no bound of any rules the label has set. He believes that everything is possible if you believe in yourself and do not give up. Sometimes you have to wake up to face the reality and make your dreams come true because not everyone can help you if you not helping yourself.
