KRYL8R is a Hip-hop and R&B artist from Cleveland, Ohio. Known for his brooding, candid lyrics, KRYL8R’s sound is intimate and spectral, leaning into a new wave of R&B that instinctively blends genres like trap soul, psychedelic music and traditional hip-hop. Since the release of his 2019 mixtape ‘LoveTape’, a moody, sensual project that incorporates fragments of rap, trap soul and conversational vocals, KRYL8R’s stylistic evolution can be seen in his most recent project, ‘Quarantine N’ Chill’ (2020) — an exciting homegrown EP that dances the border between ambient, R&B and Hip-hop. KRYL8R grew up listening to legendary Hip-hop and R&B albums through his parents, who would bump iconic artists like Notorious BIG, Tupac, Faith Evans, Jay Z, Jodeci and more during car journeys. In his teens, KRYL8R would freestyle in his school cafeteria and get praised for his musical ability by his peers, but his heart was set on pursuing basketball, his first love. KRYL8R poured his blood, sweat and tears into the sport until, in 2017, numerous injuries forced him to stop. From this setback, the chance to focus solely on music blossomed. KRYL8R’s passion for music resurfaced, and the young hip-hop artist began recording material with engineer and producer Jameel Miller (JahGotTheJuice), one of his closest collaborators.
