Gifted with a deep sense of musicality and an unquestionable mastery of its instrument, Marta Mathéu is now collecting the fruits of a solid career. Her Bach's performances under the direction of Jordi Savall in different European settings (including the Philharmonie in Paris) have been praised. The Tenor Viñas contest (Gran Teatre del Liceu) awarded his Mozart interpretations, and she has recently included in her repertoire capital roles from Puccini, Rossini and Wagner’s operas. As a performer of Spanish music, she has received prizes for the recent recording of Martínez Vall’s Cançó d’amor i de guerra (2017) on the leading role (Francina), the first complete recording since Montserrat Caballé starred her one with Josep Carreras in 1964. In the symphonic field and the oratory, she has interpreted, among many other scores, Beethoven’s Ninth under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel and Mahler’s Second with Victor Pablo Pérez. She has also sung as a soloist with Antonio Ros Marbà, Neville Marriner and Fabio Biondi. Among her teachers, we can find Ana Luisa Chova, Montserrat Caballé, Elena Obraztsova and Wolfram Rieger. She has sung in some of the most outstanding venues in the world, including the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Teatro Real, the Liceu de Barcelona and the Philharmonie de Paris. Mathéu has recorded for Alia Vox, KLASSIC, Brilliant, Naxos and Opus Art and has been a teacher of Singing in the Liceu Conservatory since 2014.
