Biography

JimiJames is a eurythmic artist in today’s wave of sound, fashion and lifestyle. Born an only child to Robin and Jimmie, the singer-songwriter’s influences draw from her upbringing in Los Angeles. With an unconventional approach to melody, Jimi’s lyrical wordplay creates a unique twist over her signature harmonic phrases. The singer-songwriter is known for her work with soul-crooner Mayer Hawthorne. Jimi is credited on Mayer Hawthorne's most notable songs, 'The Walk', 'Backseat Lover', 'You Called Me' and 'Love Like That' to name a few. James captured global visibility with Hawthorne as featured female vocalist on the Man About Town international tour while cutting corners with Baltimore-native and producer/ music director Wow Jones (Post Malone, Bryson Tiller, Rihanna). In May of 2018, JimiJames gained the attention of major publishing company BMG, who signed the singer-songwriter's upcoming album to their premiere licensing and sync-artist platform. JimiJames' intro-to-the-summer bop "Bullshit Or Worry", produced by Tony Ozier, began creating social media buzz making Apple Music's Top 20 Juke Joint playlist and UK's Mi-Soul Connoisseurs Top 20. KCRW's Garth Trinidad debuted the song during it's first week's release. Her reggae-inspired vibe "No Time" recently featured on The CW's second season of Black Lightning. The music is vibey, diverse in personality, bass heavy and honest. Jimi has been developing her sound with producers Stanley Randolph, Wow Jones and Tony Ozier.
