Philip Weyand was born in Mannheim in 1997. After classical piano lessons, he later became interested in jazz and improvised music. He completed his jazz piano studies with Rainer Böhm at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts in 2023 with top marks. He is currently completing his jazz piano master's degree in Cologne at the University of Music and Dance. As a composer, his quartet projects are dedicated to conceptual work with various rhythmic and harmonic structures in combination with elements of free playing. His work as a sideman in various projects and orchestras has taken him all over Germany and to China and the USA, among other places. In 2022, he studied as a DAAD scholarship holder at the Escola de Musica da UFBA in Salvador, Brazil. Since 2023 he has been a scholarship holder of the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg.
