Formed in 2012, Ratschild hails from the Metro Manila underground. Started by Josh Papers, Peso Ratschild, and Iggy Napoles, Ratschild’s music is defined by its deep ties to hiphop’s prominent roots; stylistic choices from the likes of Tupac Shakur to YG surface in their music. But beyond the gloss of baggy tees and fitted caps runs a deeper thread within hiphop’s tenets: that of struggle, adversity, and true expression. Their music is a reflection of their experiences growing up and growing out of inner-city conflict and aspirations of a better life. Beyond music, Ratschild’s members have dipped their fingers into a number of pursuits, including creative direction, filmmaking, tattoo design, and business, not just as a way to express themselves but as a means of living.
