Sol Jay (@1soljay), the California native genre-bending artist, has only transcended in his musical journey since 2014. With roots in Filipino, Japanese, and Irish descent, Sol Jay's sonic exploration began at 13 with Ableton Live. His moody and atmospheric style, influenced by R&B and Trap, marked his debut mixtape #UNDERGROUNDKINGS including collaborations with over 50 artists and producers, post a near-fatal car accident in July of 2019. Sol Jay expressed his life-altering perspective with raw emotion in the EP “27” which released exactly a year after the incident. Fast forward to 2021, Sol Jay returned to his childhood haven, now in the hills of Hollywood, CA. Right before his groundbreaking move, he dropped the album "Angel Keane," introducing the sub-subgenre "Angel Plugg,” sprung from its angelic “Pluggnb” sound. The album followed up with its Deluxe Version shortly after. Sol Jay's roots in the "Plugg" sound date back to 2017 when he was apart of Beamerboys, a group with @Summrs, @Autumn!, & Texako, delving deep into the "Plugg" sound before the emergence of "Pluggnb." Transitioning to LA, he drew inspiration from the city's given experiences, crafting the 2023-revolved release trilogy for "fell in lust in LA.” This time, he explored the fusion of RnB and Drum and Bass, naming this sub-subgenre "RnDnB." To this day, Sol Jay continues defying expectations, pushing boundaries, and delivering bold performances, showcasing resilience and artistic evolution.
