Emily Jane Powers is a midwestern songwriter playing rock and roll music with her friends. Her most recent record, Always (2022), was a bite-sized bedroom pop record bursting with arena-sized guitars, adding to an extensive and diverse discography spanning two decades. Scheduled for release on February 14, 2025, Emily's new album Earnest Jamming Partners is the most collaborative record of her catalog yet. With her bandmates Alec Harryhausen on bass, Ryan Hurnevich on guitar, and Dave Piscotti on drums, Emily has formed a propulsive rock and roll quartet with the chops for joyous classic rock melodies and jagged post-punk rhythms. The album's title, borrowed from the band's group chat and a nod to Emily's initials, captures the communal, sometimes impulsive spirit of four people playing music in a room together. Like previous bodies of work, the album documents highly personal and emotional moments in Emily's life and relationships, but with a sunnier outlook stemming from the fun of trading ideas, and guitar solos, with her bandmates.
