Biography

A multi-hyphenate, fresh-faced talent on the scene, Projex Santana is the quintessential contemporary recording artist. Born Ryan Joshua Washington, the DC-born singer-songwriter got his start in the music industry as a drummer for local area go-go bands. He lent his writing skills and background vocals to up-and-coming rappers, helping him to eventually launch his own solo career. His first official single, 2019's "Good Love," and it's follow-up version "Good Love - Acoustic" showcased his versatility as an artist. By the release of "Addictive Soul" in 2021, he had fully come into his own, with a style that is impossible to imitate, cementing him as an R&B powerhouse on the rise. Having discovered the sounds of Smokey Robinson, Maxwell, Dru Hill, and Tamia, Projex Santana, who also cites Drake, Ty Dolla Sign, and Frank Ocean among his influences, crafts music with intention. Infusing classic R&B, progressive jazz, and modern hip-hop styles places him at the forefront of a new generation of musical innovators. With a rap star's flair for showmanship, Santana has earned a block of dedicated followers, and streaming numbers in the thousands, proving that he is one to watch. He is a 2024 Wammie Award nominee for Best R&B/Soul Artist and Best R&B/Soul Song.
