Biography

A performer specializing in Renaissance polyphonic music, Vera Marenco is a dedicated interpreter of the vocal and polyphonic repertoires spanning from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, which she has researched and performed as a singer, instrumentalist and conductor of vocal and instrumental ensembles. In 1993 she founded the Ring Around vocal quartet – still active – which has appeared at the most important concert series in Italy, to great public and critical acclaim. Vera Marenco has recorded some ten CDs of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque and contemporary music: the latest one, Frottole, was released by Naxos in May 2015. She is the author of transcriptions, arrangements and original compositions. Since 2003 she has been the artistic director of the Musicaround ensemble, with which since 2016 she has organized in Genoa, among other things, the series “La Voce e il Tempo”, an original project of interaction between the vocal repertoire and other artistic disciplines.
