Biography

ADAM FISCHER AND THE DANISH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA: Just when the world thought it had heard everything there was to hear in Beethoven’s symphonies, along came Adam Fischer and the Danish Chamber Orchestra. Their revelatory performances released in 2019 saw critics’ jaws dropping from Vienna to New York. In 2020, the recording received the International Classical Music Award. In 1997, Fischer met the Danish Chamber Orchestra for the first time and sensed that these were the musicians with whom he could build on a deep obsession with Viennese classical repertoire born in his native Hungary. Fischer initiated a series of recordings of Mozart operas in Copenhagen and then, with unprecedented ambition, a complete survey of his 45 symphonies. After a decade in the studio, the latter won the Danish Chamber Orchestra its first International Classical Music Award, in 2015. Fischer had created one of the world’s most renowned orchestras for Viennese classicism out of an ensemble with its roots in public entertainment. Until 2015, the Danish Chamber Orchestra was an ensemble of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. The Danish Chamber Orchestra is known internationally through its acclaimed recordings. Newly independent, financially secure and artistically flying, the orchestra now stands ready to increase its international profile with appearances at the major festivals and concert halls of the world.
