Born in 1975, DJ DS (Dave Da Silva) grew up in Crewe in the North-West of England. By the time he hit secondary school he was heavily into both skateboarding & music. Whilst always enjoying an eclectic taste, it was always hip hop that was his real passion. In 1992, DJ DS eventually saved up for his trusty Technics SL-1200MKII turntables which are still going strong to this day. After that, if DS wasn’t in his room practicing then he was off crate digging in Manchester, spending every penny on either vinyl or mixtapes by other DJs & turntablists. It was these mixes that really influenced DS’s signature style of cutting, scratching & beat juggling. DJ DS is a proud member of the DJ League (No.1 Global Hip Hop & R&B Network), Workinonit & Summer Vibes DJ Crews. In recent years, DS has released a huge number of mixtapes, with many of which reaching No.1 in the Global Mixcloud charts. DS has also collaborated with other DJs & was recruited to create and release the official Workinonit mixtape at the start of 2023. Workinonit is a monthly event, based out of The Hip Hop Chip Shop in Manchester, celebrating both local producers & beatmakers from all over the world. His mixes have also been featured on radio shows globally, including Brazil, USA & throughout Europe. In addition to this, DS provides scratch hooks for other artists, including AL-J & Kane Major.
