As a kid growing up, the Beatles meant the world to me, and so when Doug Pringle of Rawlco Radio (Magic 99) asked me if I would be interested in recording a CD of all Beatles music, arranged “à ma façon”, I jumped at the chance - and quickly got to work scheming up new ways to interpret the music, and matching the ideal voices with the arrangements I was creating. And it’s been a Fab time all the way – working with Fabulous musicians on Fabulous music. Totally gear. And for anyone who may not be a Beatles devotee – John, Paul, George and Ringo were the Fab Four, the “Fabs” for short. I borrowed the name as a tip of the hat to the Beatles, and as a term of endearment for all who appear on this record. And of course, “Robert Soul” is a spin on the album title “Rubber Soul”. As a producer, it has been a joy to feature some of the amazing artists that I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years to celebrate this amazing music. I hope you’ll take this opportunity to get more acquainted with some of the singers and musicians featured here. I’ve recently gotten back on the Fabs bandwagon, as a featured guest with the River City Big Band in their concert series for whom I wrote and performed several arrangements.
