Having garnered his initial worldwide buzz towards the end of his high-school career via Soundcloud, Davis has came a long way from the forum-driven backpack raps that first opened people’s ears to his unique sound. Hailing from Atlanta, the 27-year-old tells a variety of tales for an amalgam of listeners, yet always manages to do so in a way that reminds you who you’re listening to in the first place. In a previous interview, Woods stated: “I want people to feel like they’re in the room with me. Like, if I can pull a thought out of the back of your head that you didn’t think other people shared with you—and still get bars off—I won.” With an inspirational background studded with the likes of Lil’ Wayne (whom Woods has an almost shrine-like portrait of inked into his chest, might we add), Drake, Young Dro ( the “real GOAT of all this s**t,” per Woods), Morrissey, Mary J. Blige, & many more, it can be derived that the MC approaches writing in his own way.
