Picking up the pen in 2004, lyricist Naj Ahngeaux fka Ghrimm, cut his teeth during a time where bars were a must to consider yourself an emcee. Think about the lyricists who were at the top of the game, from Jay-Z to Andre 3000, to call yourself a rapper, you had to actually rap. And so the drive to always be better than his last verse was forged. A military brat, Naj calls both Carson, California and Hardeeville, South Carolina home - and it shows in his sound. With the swag of a kid from the west coast and the drawl of a southern gentleman creeping out every few words, one thing is certain, when you hear that voice, it commands your attention! Priding himself on delivering what he so affectionately calls “grown man raps,” Mr. Ahngeaux’s music is definitely for the mature ear. After a life altering, catastrophic health event in 2021, Naj decided to shake his former, darker moniker to embrace a name that is more true to him. Using his recovery as motivation to make music that matches his determination to overcome the odds, Naj is proving again that he is here to stay. Song by song, this emcee is showing the world that “everybody do this, but everybody can’t do THIS.”
