Kettel, real name Reimer Eising, born and raised in Friesland and now inhabitant of the city of Groningen in the north of the Netherlands, is a trained classical pianist who has been a key figure in the ambient and electronic music scene that emerged from the early 00's. Along his path starting with his debute on Planet Mu in 2001 have been several releases on the legendary Rotterdam based Clone label. The second half of the 00's saw an explosion of genre elevating work on his co-owned Sending Orbs label; a label that after its closing can pride itself for leaving a permanent mark on the scene with much loved and sought after albums. Kettel is well-known for his delicate, playful melodies uniting elements of electronica, classical music, jazz and acid stirred into flawless, memorable compositions with always a unique focus on harmony and counterpoint. His ambient works like Volleyed Iron (2004) and Dwingeloo Life Extension (2020) are often sonically more experimental and weave beautiful textures, samples together in dreamy fashion. Kettel has frequently toured all over the world with a special notoriety in Japan and the US. Outside of his released music, Kettel has put his musical mark on 2 popular videogames with Ibb & Obb (2013) and Park Beyond (2023) and has won several awards as a composer for bespoke music in several media.
