German-Dutch singer-songwriter Dagmar Segbers has grown strong roots in Italy – both musical and cultural roots in Italy. With her original and warm voice, she is capable of giving voice to various musical genres such as pop, jazz, blues and soul. Dagmar was born in a village in Lower Saxony, Germany, close to the border with the Netherlands. She is the daughter of a German mother and a Dutch father. However, she only met her father for the first time when she was twenty years old. Nevertheless, she has definitely inherited his love of music; he was a DJ in the 70s, and what do you know?... Thanks to this, Dagmar discovered her love for jazz music. Dagmar started singing in a school choir. Then, whilst still very young, she started performing in various bands. Things changed all of sudden when she encountered Marc Coles. A lyrical baritone, Marc changed her life, when after hearing her sing he casually commented ‘You do not have to imitate, but rather feel what you sing and interpret it accordingly’. This casual observation proved to be a turning point in Dagmar’s artistic life and she’s never looked back. In addition to music, Dagmar also loves different cultures and foreign languages.
