The Schumann Quartet, composed of three brothers Mark, Erik, and Ken Schumann, along with violist Veit Hertenstein, has embraced uncertainty in their performances, creating a genuine and honest connection with their audiences. They believe that music truly comes to life in live performances, where improvisation and authenticity lead to unique experiences. Their collaborations in 2023 are with esteemed musicians like Anna Vinnitskaya, Claudio Bohorquez, Katharina Konradi, Pablo Barragán, Fabian Müller, Olga Zado, Ragna Schirmer and Anna Lucia Richter. Notably, the quartet had a three-year residency at the Chamber Music Society of the Lincoln Center in New York City, and has toured extensively in the US, Asia and Europe. Their albums "Intermezzo" and "Landscapes" have received critical acclaim and awards, including the prestigious "Opus Klassik" and "Jahrespreis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik." The quartet's performances are characterized by a strong connection and non-verbal communication among its members. They find common ground in every musical work, with individual personalities blending in a spiritual metamorphosis. Their musical journey has been shaped by influential teachers and partners like Eberhard Feltz, the Alban Berg Quartet, Henk Guittart and Menahem Pressler.
