Inspired by his unique upbringing, Western Sydney rapper and MC Kazi A tells his story through the art of rap and poetry to express a confronting perspective on social and political affairs. Born in Bangladesh, Kazi A was raised by his grandmother in the capital city of Dhaka. His journey into hip hop began after shortly migrating to Australia when he was 7 years of age after he was introduced to 2 Pac’s ‘All Eyez On Me’ cassette tape. Kazi A started writing songs from the early age of 14 but it wasn’t until 2016 that he released his debut EP titled Guardian of the Galaxy. Kazi describes it as a lyrical time capsule of his journey through rehab when he felt most isolated from his grandmother. Kazi explains, “It’s an ode to pushing through to evolve myself.” His debut album Trappelation was released in early 2020. It’s a trap based album where he marries old school raps and new age beats that are lyrically orchestrated with life learnt affirmations. Kazi says “I see Trappelation as a conscious body of work where it is based on hurt stories and life’s mixed emotions. Sometimes we need to reveal parts of ourselves and let the vulnerability express itself.” Kazi A continues to spit his observations via musical storytelling captivating audiences through a charismatic, high energy live performance.
