Dima he describes himself as a multidisciplinary artist and works with sound installations, performances and happenings. "My goal is not only to make music, but also to create the space in which it sounds and the conditions in which people perceive it," he explains. "I want people to forget who I am and who they are, and then go home with new impressions and new experiences." His projects include underwater music events, live music in an abandoned church, immersive light installations, audio-visual environments for improvising artists, music performance in multiple dimensions and a 24-hour participatory space in nine halls of a neo-Gothic mansion. "Ultimately, the goal of all my performances is to create a kind of psychedelic experience through the means of music and space," he adds. Along with the direction of his creative path, the musician's life has also changed dramatically: in 2017 he left the crowded big city and settled in the quiet province, in the old town of Zaraisk. There he abandoned his usual electronics and began his journey on the piano. In 2019, Dima Ustinov released "Zaraisk" - an album of meditative piano pieces reflecting the de-construction and re-construction of his own self. "I don't write music 'about something',' he explains his method of composition, "I don't write it at all; it comes to me."
