The earnest: Natalie Reiss writes from the romantic-addled mind of a story-obsessed woman. Inspired by Sofia Coppola films, powerhouse soul vocalists, literary dreamers and old Hollywood glamour, Natalie’s confessional songs found their way to producer, Joseph Martin-Kelly (Crooked Teeth) who created a dreamy soundscape to match the reflective tone of her music & lyrics. Natalie's debut, the 'Good Intentions EP' was released in 2018. The ridiculous: A few years ago, I received a message from a girl in Poland, asking if I knew Dave Bentley, as I had apparently shared his song, ‘Scarlet Fever’. Google revealed that Dave Bentley had uploaded two of my songs to a free download site, and one song ‘Scarlet Fever’ had been downloaded thousands of times... It also appeared on hundreds of YouTube videos, each video attributing Dave Bentley as the songwriter/musician. Cue a slew of admin, legal advice & flattery/frustration as 'Scarlet Fever' ended up on a tourism commercial and TV series… Dave Bentley was never found. Good on paper details: - ‘Scarlet Fever’ featured on Popjustice.com, US TV series ‘The Girls Guide to Depravity’ & Queenstown Tourism commercial - Featured artist at Sunday at the Apartment showcase - Semi-finalist: International Songwriting Competition - Runner up: ASA's annual Australian Songwriting Contest - Honourable mention: 16th annual Billboard World Song Contest - Number 1 & 2: Triple J Unearthed charts - Shortlisted: Vanda & Young Song Competition
