Biography

Sid Bucknor has worked with all the leading studios, record labels, and artists of the time in the reggae space, such as Studio 1, Treasure Isle, Chalk Farm, Dynamic Sounds, Channel 1, Tuff Gong, and Trojan. He also worked with legendary reggae artists, including Alton Ellis, Desmond Dekker, Bob Marley & The Wailers, The Ebony Sisters, Webber Sisters, and BB Seaton. He evolved from a sound engineer to composer and producer over the years and released many of the iconic songs on his own labels JamCan, Third World and Tropical Records. Sadly much of Sid’s work has been unrecognized, and it is only now that account has been taken of his vast input to Jamaican music. “This lack of recognition is not just for Sid Bucknor but many other Jamaican artists of the time. Hence, “Come out of darkness” by Spanky Brown, released on Sid’s JamCan label, drives our mission to bring integrity in the reggae genre” – Quote by Byron Bucknor. Whether you’re a long-time fan or discovering his work for the first time, his music is a must-have for any music lover. So, put on your headphones, turn up the volume, and get ready to experience the timeless sounds of Sid Bucknor.
