Obil emerged in late 2018 with a percussive foundation of both electric and acoustic sounds. The subtly-accented vocals of Obil’s frontman Miguel Martinez, influenced by international folk and world music artists gives Obil a unique indie rock vibe combined with lo-fi electronic. The members of Obil met while working together in the professional club musician scene in NYC. Guitarist dNo (Everything Ever, Curious Volume) brought lifelong friend and drummer Chris Peters (Neaux, Back and Forth) into the band. Their background as touring musicians in heavier rock bands brings a unique flair and energy to Obil’s deliberately more chill, danceable indie pop rock sound.
