Biography

"His entire set is from a completely different universe." - Fort Worth Star-Telegram In 1987, Rhett Butler received his first guitar for Christmas. It became his refuge during his brother's cancer battle, igniting a passion for music. This passion led him to the jazz program at the University of North Texas in 1993, where he developed a unique hammer-on style, allowing him to play two guitars simultaneously. Rhett's talent caught the attention of music legends, and he performed with icons like Tommy Emmanuel, Stanley Jordan, and Joe Satriani. In 2018, he was inducted into the Buddy Magazine Texas Tornado Hall of Fame. Inspired by his brother's fight against cancer, Rhett became a vocal advocate in the fight against the disease. His documentary, "Chasing Miracles," showcased his brother Ashley's journey as a 28-year brain tumor survivor. His book, "The Patient and Caregiver's Guide to Cancer," became an Amazon Best Seller, offering support to those facing similar challenges. In 2021, Rhett graduated from medical school. Today, he is a Hematology/Oncology Fellow at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, combining his love for music with his dedication to healing. Rhett Butler is not just a musician; he is a symbol of resilience, and a true testament to the power of passion and perseverance.
