Tom Winpenny is Assistant Master of the Music at St Albans Cathedral, UK, and director of the Cathedral Gils Choir. Previously he was Sub-Organist at St Paul's Cathedral, after graduating from King's College, Cambridge, where he was Organ Scholar. His wide-ranging discography includes releases of organ music by Olivier Messiaen, Edward Elgar, Robert Schumann, Judith Bingham, Malcolm Williamson, Francis Pott, Elisabeth Lutyens and Francis Grier (Naxos, Toccata Classics and Willowhayne Records), and as choir director in music by Felix Mendelssohn, Michael Haydn, Elizabeth Poston and William Mathias (Naxos). Amongst his recording reviews he has received Critic's Choice from Gramophone and American Record Guide, and five-star reviews from Musik und Kirche (Germany) Diapason (France) and Choir and Organ (UK). He has performed as a soloist throughout the UK, the USA and Europe, with recent concerts in Hallgrímskirkja (Reykjavík) and St Stephen's Cathedral (Vienna). www.tomwinpenny.org
