Fiercely rooted in Afrobeats and its more subtle fusions, Mephyz has successfully carved out a sweet spot for himself in the genre and ultimately the industry . Born Amie Kingsley Semenibika in Port Harcourt, Rivers State , Nigeria, into a relatively non-musical family, he developed a passion for the artform quite early in his Secondary Education and later went on to pursue a career afterwards. Originally a rapper , he ventured into the gospel music scene which he later left to properly find himself musically and like a butterfly metamorphosed into a well grounded,candy voiced singer, songwriter and self thought producer / mix-master engineer (otherwise known as TheMaazi),earning himself a spot on Erigga’s mid 2021 EP (Before The Chaos) as a featured artiste and a producer/Engineer (Dont Die Alive) and also on his late 2022 album (The Lost Boy) as a featured act alongside other new and rising acts like Psycho Yp, Odumodu Black etc. Influenced by the likes of Chronixx, Sarz, Brymo, Habib Koite , Richard Boma ,Mannywells , Tay Iwar and the general Altè culture, Meph was golden with his debut EP , ULTRA MATTER, released late 2021. His position was solidified with the self-engineered single ‘Martin Luther ’, a collaborative work with the brilliant record producer, DEJ,designed to show his revolutionary side, his latest release ‘Scarecrow’ also aims to buttress the revolutionary mindset ,bringing a new taste to the Afro music scene and giving insight into his unique style .
