Biography

Famous Twenty is a super-talented Jamaican original who continues to generate attention and win fans with his dynamic dance moves, his unique sense of style, and his clever, crowd-pleasing lyrics. A resident of South Florida since 2003, Twenty’s artistry is enriched by an enviable community tradition and family history, as his grandfather is the celebrated musical icon Alton Ellis and his grand aunt Hortense Ellis was the first Jamaican woman to ever voice a record. His mother and several of his aunts, uncles and cousins are also talented and accomplished entertainers. He was an enthusiastic and gifted sportsman in his teen years and excelled in both cricket and soccer. In fact his stage name is the remnant of a nickname that originated with the number he wore on his jersey in soccer matches. He also had a passion for dancing. However, growing up in a place like Trench Town - a community whose residents included countless musical legends like Bob Marley, Joe Higgs, Ken Boothe etc., the magnetic pull of music was hard to resist. As he puts it, “dancing and sports were my major sources of fascination growing up, but music has always been a big part of me from since about age 11. I was always singing at school concerts or belting out songs in the living room with my mom when relatives came over”. As a live performer, Famous Twenty is energetic, electrifying and totally engaging.
