Biography

Poli Genova is a Bulgarian singer, songwriter, record producer, host and actress. In 2011 she represented Bulgaria at Eurovision Song Contest with her song "Na inat". At the end of 2012 Poli Genova started her acting career as the lead actress in the Bulgarian musicals "Aladin", "The Ugly Duckling” at the National Music Theatre and Central Puppet Theatre. Poli has voiced animated characters in the Bulgarian dubs of films such as Smurfette in The Smurfs and The Smurfs 2 and Judy Hopps in Zootopia. In 2013 Poli Genova won the first edition of the Bulgarian reality TV show "Music Academy". Poli Genova hosted the Junior Eurovision 2015 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Then, in 2016, Genova returned to the Eurovision Song Contest five years later, representing Bulgaria for the second time. This time in Stockholm, Sweden, with the song "If Love Was a Crime", she reached fourth place in the finals – a record for the country at this time. It was also the first time Bulgaria qualified for almost a decade. Her song "If Love Was a Crime" reached #1 in Bulgarian charts and was listed in various charts throughout Europe. The song is a huge hit among the Eurovision fans around the world. Poli Genova has been a judge on the first edition of The X Factor in Bulgaria and a coach on the extremely successful 4th and 5th season of "The Voice of Bulgaria". In 2017 and 2021 Poli won the BG Radio award for "BEST FEMALE ARTIST" in Bulgaria. Since 2023 Poli Genova is UNICEF Bulgaria National Ambassador.
