High-voltage Portland-based, Los Angeles-bred singer-songwriter Ruby Friedman’s next release, “Teardrop Trailer,” arrives Oct. 11 on Spotify and other music platforms. Produced by Grammy-nominated producer Mitchell Froom (Paul McCartney, Randy Newman, Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, Los Lobos), the song features a stellar supporting band – guitarist Val McCallum, bassist Bob Glaub, and drummer Matt Chamberlain. Friedman debuted the single with a live performance on KBOO Portland’s “The Songcircle.” It will be featured on her forthcoming collection Late Afternoon Highs. In May 2019, Friedman created a commissioned song for Kim Michele Richardson’s eagerly awaited new novel The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, an “Oprah’s Buzziest Books” pick. Dangerous Minds considers Ruby Friedman as one “emitting the lungpower of a ferocious and fiery tigress.” Friedman concluded 2018 with a quartet of concert appearances opening for the legendary Brian Wilson, followed by single Journey On A Bullet and sold out shows in Hollywood's A-list speakeasy Black Rabbit Rose. Friedman’s originals have been heard on FX’s Sons of Anarchy ("Drowned") and Justified “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive”, and she scored compositions for Fox Sports’ World Cup soccer competition series, Phenoms. Friedman has been heard on trailers for many feature films and tv shows including Marshall and Netflix's Godless, Amazon's Transparent, as well as many video games such as Bloodborne and Uncharted.
