Biography

Female Bangladeshi rapper born and raised in Queens , New York. Likes to make versatile Bengali and English mash-ups usually in the Hip-Hop, Pop and Trap genre. Silma is a Bangladeshi American rapper , singer, songwriter and is a part of a Collective called ,”Stoic Bliss”. She was born and raised in Queens ,New York. She had moved to Bangladesh when she was in 9th grade. This is where Silma began to learn Bengali and its culture more in depth. She lived in Bangladesh all through-out her high school years till she was ready to go to college at the end of 12th grade. She went back to NYC at the age of 18 and started college at Baruch College of CUNY. Khandani is Silma’s very first Bengali and English fusion rap she has written. She tried to portray the culture she had known growing up, basically being an American Born Bangladeshi had a very big impact on her songwriting, showing the struggles and daily lives of a average New York Bengali American in our current times. Silma and her Stoic Bliss Collective members, currently Kazi Rahman and Lit Slick are working on their new music In Los Angeles. They have met a producer in LA named As if , who is helping them create their next album which consists of pop songs sung by Kazi and Silma, and various fusion rap songs with Kazi , Lit Slick and Silma. Stoic Bliss was the very first to introduce hip-hop to Bangladesh through blogs/forums before social media existed, quickly gaining popularity in the music scene in Bangladesh.
