Born and raised in Columbus Ohio, Del-Gato creates what he calls "dark Street pop" At the age of 10 he played the violin, trumpet, piano and drums in school. at age 11 he began writing lyrics and short stories. Around the age of 13 began experimenting with a tascam 4-track cassette recorder making mixtapes. (Yes he's been in the Game that long !) At age 17 began professionally recording mixing and producing his own music. Very similar to Prince and Michael Jackson, Del-gato has many different musical influences and styles and blends them all together to create what he calls "dark Street pop". He also plays all instrument on his albums, unless outherwise noted. Although most of the time leaning more towards the rap side, there are plenty of tracks that lean back to his pop roots with smooth falsetto vocals and r&b grooves. In 1996 he released a 6 song cassette experimental mixtape, which would become the basis for the full-length studio album eccentric hybrid released in 1998. This very left -field but still polished album featured Columbus rap artists Solo Souljah and M.r. J.o.s. some of the highlights of the album include the tracks "hungry broke and lonely", "night creep", "the answer", and "baby's daddy." The album took over two years to record a testament to his perfectionist personality. Currently working on a double album and a new project with Solo Souljah.
