Biography

Whether in a gay dive bar on the Lower East Side, a community garden in Bed Stuy, or a university campus somewhere around the world, the Lazours offer a sonic experience both heartfelt and hard-edged . Drawing from a cornucopia of family stories, an urban folk vernacular, and a can’t-be-helped obsession with the 11 o'clock number, their music is one of texture, close harmony, and queer marginalia. Patrick the older and Daniel the younger make up the Lazours, brothers who grew up in New England and traveled to New York City in the early 10s to make a life for themselves on the downtown scene, only to discover that a downtown scene didn’t exist anymore. But there were other scenes to enter, other worlds to win.
