pseudo-antigone.com pseudo-antigone is the musical production moniker for Edmonton-based philosopher and interdisciplinary artist Simone A. Medina Polo. At the beginning of 2021, pseudo-antigone debuted her brand of emotional hyperpop with the release of her EP Things are sinking in. Shortly after, this was followed up by her LP Into the Void of Infinite Sadness and its companion remix compilation which were met with an enthusiastic reception across Canada and beyond. The sophomore self-titled full-length is a mature exploration of the major musical trends in pseudo-antigone’s creative work as a producer ranging from industrial bass to experimental pop. The record takes on musical imports from pseudo-antigone’s on-going gender transition, her frustrations with casual racism, her revisited relationship with Latin American pop, as well as her studies in psychoanalysis. On its technical end, the record marks another step in pseudo-antigone’s maturity as a producer with growing ambitions in production and sound quality which seek to set a definitive standard for her work to come. The self-titled full-length will be released through the collective record label Pyric Gestures on July 26, 2024.
