Following last year’s ‘WHERE R U’ EP and this year’s ‘BOX’ mix, “NO RIGHT 2 LOVE” is the first taste of Leeds-based collective HONESTY’s anticipated debut album (more details on that coming shortly). It’s a pulsing, soulful, poetic reintroduction that features vocals from Nottingham-based singer Liam Bailey and makes oblique references to the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, Black Lives Matter, and social inequality. Bailey’s lyrics are cut and chopped, transformed in studio by the members of HONESTY, resulting in a contemporary electronic ballad for a messed-up world. “The song is special to me. Rolling Stone, Loud & Quiet & The Line of Best Fit have all written features on the collective, with Crack, Brooklyn Vegan & NME also showing support for HONESTY’s releases to date.
