Biography

Following last year’s ‘WHERE R U’ EP and this year’s ‘BOX’ mix, “NO RIGHT 2 LOVE” is the first taste of Leeds-based collective HONESTY’s anticipated debut album (more details on that coming shortly). It’s a pulsing, soulful, poetic reintroduction that features vocals from Nottingham-based singer Liam Bailey and makes oblique references to the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, Black Lives Matter, and social inequality. Bailey’s lyrics are cut and chopped, transformed in studio by the members of HONESTY, resulting in a contemporary electronic ballad for a messed-up world. “The song is special to me. People are made and deserve to be together whatever creed race ethnicity or sexuality they are. Sometimes all this bad human energy. The toxic culture we are forced to live under, a type an ugly mantra that grips you into a closed fear of self. We have a right to love and the rite is universal” – Liam Bailey Since their debut single release in September 2023, excitement & intrigue around HONESTY has been steadily building. Rolling Stone, Loud & Quiet & The Line of Best Fit have all written features on the collective, with Crack, Brooklyn Vegan & NME also showing support for HONESTY’s releases to date. At radio, the group have seen plays on BBC 6 Music alongside plays from Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1. HONESTY’s mesmerising live show saw them covered as one of the most exciting acts of Eurosonic Festival 2024 by Mixmag & Clash.
