Biography

Born in Brooklyn, New York to parents who immigrated from Guyana Shawn October became addicted to hip hop in the 1980's . Subsequently he jumped in hip hop feet first from breakdancing, DJing, graffiti and eventually becoming a emcee. Shawn October actually entered the music business in 1994 under the moniker "Madman Shawn". He was the flagship artist for East New York Records now known as East New York Entertainment which was founded by his childhood friend Fran Lover. They had a regional underground hit in 1994 named "Walk Thru Hell" and followed that up with another underground smash called S.O.N.S. featuring Full Clip and Pudgee Tha Phat Bastard. This was all released on "Tha East Comin Thru" EP on East New York Records with production from Fran Lover and Kool T from The Afro's. Since then Shawn has worked with many different artists and became a staple in the New York underground scene. Between writing and relocating from Brooklyn to Tampa, Florida he decided to come back to the music business under his government name and received a record deal from Ill2def Entertainment in 2016. Between countless features for artists in the Tampa music scene he began working on his LP. Finally in 2019 he released his first solo LP Dare To Be Different gaining much critical acclaim. He is now co CEO of Prosody Entertainment with friend/business partner Raybudsky and gearing up for his second LP in 2022 and a joint LP with Raybudsky as well to also be released in early 2022.
