The story of The Countdown began in 1998 when Tamar was working on a rock opera entitled "Communicator." At some point, she played the songs for Steve. He thought the concept and songs were cool & wanted to re-record them & perform the songs live. Thus, The Countdown was born. Based out of Chicago, The Countdown became an underground sensation with some seriously loyal fans & a live show that, at any moment, can turn into a screaming match between the Tamar & Steve . They've been described as "Sonny & Cher on acid." The Countdown independently released one full length entitled "Communicator," & one EP both of which are out of print, but if you ask nicely, they might burn a copy for you. In 2004, The Countdown signed to Invisible Records & released the infamous "Scratch N Sniff" & a limited release 7" with a remix by David Yow of Jesus Lizard fame. In 2008, Invisible released a digital only album entitled "The Story of a Long Slow Awaited Death Of A Band" which was their last release with the label. Free to do what they wanted, The Countdown's released "Your Friends And Neighbors" in 2009. It is their strangest and most bizarre album to date. "Your Friends And Neighbors" explores concepts of loneliness, secrets and obsessions. And asks the question, do you ever really know someone? Now, ten years later, they're back. The Countdown mysteriously reappears. They are about to blow your mind with their latest new single entitled "American Crisis." Look for it everywhere.
