Peter Slavov is a New York-based double bassist, composer, session musician, arranger and educator. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Peter Slavov has performed and/or recorded with world-renowned artists, such as Joe Lovano, Quincy Jones, George Garzone, Danilo Perez and many others. Peter Slavov’s long-overdue debut album, Little Stories, was released at the end of 2019 to great acclaim. It is a concept album: each composition is accompanied by a short printed one-paragraph story that explains the inspiration behind the music and the meaning of the title. The music on Little Stories was recorded by a core band enhanced on different tracks with strings, voice, acoustic guitar and bass clarinet. All the music was written and arranged by Peter Slavov and is a collection of material written over the past 20 years. The cover art was painted by acclaimed Chilean artist Maria Jose Concha and was inspired by the music. What the critics say: "This is an album to absolutely die for." - Raul da Gama, jazzdagama.com; "A compelling program which speaks volumes about one man's history and artistry" - Dan Bilawksi, AllAboutJazz; "Little Stories is a great way for the listener to get a taste of Peter's beautiful music...virtuoso bassist, original composer and arranger, an inventive band leader..." - Tania Ivanova, Jazz FM 104
