Richard Haynes performs music spanning the 17th to 21st centuries all over the world. His teachers included Paul Dean, Ernesto Molinari, Diana Tolmie and Floyd Williams. Since his solo debut with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra at age 17 performing the Clarinet Concerto by John Veale, he has performed further concerti by Copland, Mozart, Rankine, Smetanin, Westlake and Xenakis to acclaim, won the title of Australia's Young Performer of the Year and the Australian Art Music Award for Performance of the Year. Whilst maintaining concert activity in Europe, USA, Asia and Oceania, he has won 1st Prize at the International Concours Nicati and the Tschumi Music Prize. He has performed to acclaim at the international festivals of Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, at the Holland Festival, Budapest, Paris and Warsaw Autumn Festivals, MaerzMusik Berlin, Vienna Modern, Salzburg Festspiele and Lincoln Center Festival New York; with the symphony orchestras of Bern, Christchurch, Dublin, Queensland, Tasmania, Vorpommern and the radio symphony orchestras of the SWR and WDR as well as with Ensemble Proton, Manufaktur Aktueller Musik, ELISION Ensemble, Basel Sinfonietta, Collegium Novum Zurich, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Resonanz, Ensemble Phoenix and Stroma.
