Manchester-based DJ Deval delivers a sound that takes inspiration from urban breakbeats to soulful melodies, reggae vibes to bassline driven rhythms. Deval is recognised as a stalwart of the British drum 'n bass music scene having carved his craft over the past 25 years; from DJing in community centres at the age of 15 to producing, DJing and working with some of the biggest names in music. Deval promoted music events in the hey day of the Manchester drum 'n' bass scene such as Nu Style Sound, Spellbound, Soundscape and Timbuk2. He released music under his 12th Round Recordings imprint and managed a range of artists on his Industry Artists roster. This success established his reputation as a key figure in the music industry. Around 2000 he began to showcase nu skool breaks alongside his drum 'n' bass DJ sets, resulting in him becoming one of the top nu skool breaks/Drum 'n' bass/breakbeat artists in England. As a producer, Deval released on various labels including Reformed, Flex, New Vibe, Formation, New Identity, Step Express, D'Vinyl Records, Nu Urban Music, New Vibe, Life Recordings, Raw Recordings and Future Proof. His nu skool breaks release 'Chinese Chess' was championed by DJ EZ. Deval won Manchester DJ of the year 2002 at the Night and Day annual NYE Awards and featured in DJ Magazine, Source magazine, Knowledge Magazine and on radio stations such as BBC 1Xtra and Galaxy FM.
