Sérgio Vieira is a Brazilian drummer and composer. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Percussion by UNESP (São Paulo, Brazil) and a Master's Degree in Jazz/Drums by ESMAE (Oporto, Portugal). Among his main works, the activity as a member of Grupo PIAP stands out, with which recorded the album “Cage +” released by Selo Sesc in 2013. He's a founder member and drummer for Divergent Fractals and No Sugar Coffee. He also leads his own project Sérgio Vieira Trio, and released three singles in 2019: Bernardo, Nublado and Coquinho. Since 2012 has been researching the contemporary music language for drum set, starring the world premières of two works written for drums and electroacoustics sounds: “Viés: Conjunção I” (2013) by Raphael Puccini and “Hindol – Homenagem à Amacher e Karkowsky” (2014) by Gabriel Lemos. In 2020 released Introspective Landscapes, an experimental and improvisational drum solo album. Participated in several music festivals, as like: “Festival Internacional de Campos do Jordão” (2012 and 2013), “T-Son” (2015), “Beat Drums!” (2015), Rampa Jazz (2019) and more. His music style is an exquisite blend between classical and jazz music, influenced by contemporary classical, avant-garde jazz and Brazilian traditional music. The result is a lively, polysemic and timeless music, creating interesting ambiences and atmospheres ranging from lyrical melodies to chaotic noise free improvisations.
