Biography

Discovering his insatiable interest for music at the age of sixteen, the self taught jack of all trades known as Curley the 5th began tampering with his step father’s computer & music programs, developing both his skills and passion for hip-hop and music as a whole. After arranging an entrance song for his Pop Warner football team, Curley found himself in full pursuit of making music his focus and livelihood as he grew into a fully independent artist, producer, videographer, editor and engineer. A Dorsey High alum, the well rounded talent drew influence from west coast legend & innovator Nate Dogg (RIP), 50 Cent, Cassidy and Kanye West, just to name a few; leading him to his introductory tape Modern Day Slave, whose cover alone resonates a strong feeling of rise and retribution. Receiving production from Grammy award winners 1500 or Nothin’, The Makers, as well as himself, the February release remains as strong as it felt on its debut. Aiming to carry a positive message in a language familiar to the streets without losing the let loose energy, the artist living only two blocks from me (literally), hopes to show others in his community that anything is possible with the right approach and attitude. With his gripping video “Strange" heading his for now localized movement, look for Curley the 5th to further his name & become familiar with those finding him new on the block, showing he’s only a slave to his craft but more a master of his own world above all.
