“Everything From Scratch”, a fitting title for the debut EP of Decatur's own Jay Owens. Having built his artistry from the ground up, the southern lyricist/vocalist now finds himself perched atop the Atlanta music market, his pen contributing to some of the region's biggest artists and singles of recent years (Bobby V, Lil Debbie, Ma$e, Lil Scrappy, etc.). Owens now looks to make his own mark as a recording artist, setting himself apart from the average Atlanta rapper with his debut project in a particularly fashion. Content wise, Jay spends the bulk of the EP lamenting on his impending success, recounting tales of daily life on the Eastside of Atlanta along the way. Lyrically untouched by his peers, Jay comes complete with witty and thought-provoking rap bars, as well as melodic r&b vocals, both colored by a soulful delivery that varies from convincingly effortless, to intentional and aggressive, all while never losing his ultimate sense of cool. Providing a soundbed best described as the perfect meeting place of trap and r&b. "Everything From Scratch" serves as the perfect introductory course.  The man behind the pen has finally stepped forward, and not a moment too soon.
