Darnaa is an independent, pop-oriented R&B vocalist who has been active since the early 2010s. Originally from Sacramento, California, she moved to New York City prior to releasing her debut single in 2012. That song, the dramatic "Runaway," drew from her personal experience as a survivor of familial abuse. After she covered songs by R.E.M. ("Everybody Hurts") and Dixie Chicks ("Not Ready to Make Nice"), she continued to progress with original material, such as 2014's "Cowgirl," the remix of which was produced by Drumma Boy and featured Remy Ma.
